Dr. Bonanno specializes in a high-risk obstetrics, focusing on maternal health issues that can complicate pregnancies. She enjoys the challenge of managing health care for pregnant women with pre-existing health problems, and those who develop complications during pregnancy. She has a particular interest in placenta accreta, diabetes in pregnancy, and pregnancy after organ transplantation. Her expertise in placental abnormalities and managing complex maternal health issues makes her a key member of Maternal Fetal Medicine (MFM) Division’s multidisciplinary programs: the Maternal Medicine Program and the Accreta Team. Dr. Bonanno received her medical degree from Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons and completed her residency training at New York University Medical College, followed by a fellowship at Columbia University Medical Center. Her research interests include the genetics of congenital diaphragmatic hernia and placenta accreta.
